Airbus connects with community

Airbus hosted a community-wide open house on June 1st to mark 35 years of helicopter operations in Canada.

More than 300 people, including members of the public and a handful of VIPs, toured the Fort Erie, Ontario facility and learned about some of the exciting things Airbus is accomplishing in Canada and on a global scale.

A career booth provided interested attendees with information on various professional opportunities within Airbus.

Airbus now accepting nominations for sixth annual ‘Innovation in Safety Award’

As part of celebrating 35 years of operations in Canada, Airbus will present the 2019 Innovation in Safety Award at this year’s Helicopter Association of Canada’s annual conference.


Airbus plays big role at CANSEC

Airbus showcased a range of innovative products and services at Canada’s premier global defense and security trade show - CANSEC 2019.

Attendees got a close look at the featured H135, a leader among light, twin-engine helicopters and a global reference for rotary wing military pilot training.

Airbus is proposing the H135 for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Future Aircrew Training Program (FAcT).

Airbus Helicopters Canada received the Excellence in Manufacturing Award in June as part of the 16th Annual Niagara Business Achievement Awards Gala, presented by the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce.


International Powerline Symposium

Airbus will host the 6th International Powerline Symposium in Boise, ID, Nov. 20-21, 2019.

With more than 100 attendees in 2018, participants were represented by hydro agencies, operators, safety consultants, trade associations, hydro procurement officers, end users and international industry experts.


Helisim to provide training solutions for North American customers

Work on the Helisim Simulation Center is underway. Crews are installing underground utilities and preparing the site for the building’s foundation. Completion of the facility is expected in March 2020.


Launch of new improvements to O.R.I.O.N Offline

Airbus Helicopters has launched an improved offline version called O.R.I.O.N (V2) in place of O.R.I.O.N. Light, for the H130, AS350, AS355 and BK117D2-H145 models.

STARS Air Ambulance welcomes first of new helicopter fleet. The new H145's will operate out of Calgary, with first missions expected this summer.

The H145 has a high level of automation, terrain awareness and collision avoidance, increasing safety for patients and crew.


Technical Tip

The standby compass lighting harness was the topic of a recent SB. (AS350-34.00.23). The harness part number is CE2-A26.

Save the date for the Airbus Helicopters North America Maintenance Seminar, scheduled for November 19 - 21, 2019 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn from and exchange with our most experienced Instructors and Tech Reps. We will be sharing general and model specific information and tips about interval inspections and “lessons learned.”
