As we head into Summer I hope that everyone has a safe and successful operating season!
Recently, the Eurocopter X3 hybrid helicopter attained a speed milestone of 255 knots (472 km/hr.) in level flight. Several days before this accomplishment, the X3 reached a speed of 263 knots (487 km/hr.) during a descent. With these two successes, the X3 has surpassed the unofficial speed record for a helicopter. Here at Eurocopter, we are very proud of this accomplishment!
Another important announcement is that of the EC175 Executive and VIP versions – which were introduced by Eurocopter at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland. The EC175 VIP is offered in three different styles, all accommodating six to eight passengers. The EC175 Executive version seats nine to twelve passengers in an atmosphere that is conducive to both work and relaxation.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Paris Airshow, Le Bourget. At this year’s show it was announced that the start of construction on Eurocopter’s new industrial site, known as “Paris-Le Bourget”, was given the green light by Guillaume Faury, President and CEO of Eurocopter. The new site, at the forefront of innovation and environmental standards, will be dedicated to helicopter blade production and to research on composite materials. It is scheduled to open its doors in 2015.
