Taping into previous experience in simulator operation, we have developed 3 one hour VFR sessions in the AS350B2 and B3 simulator. It is utilized to properly train for emergencies and operations at diverse altitude and gross weight.
We aim to demonstrate emergencies that cannot be performed in an aircraft, either because the limitations could be exceeded and/or it could jeopardize the safety of the aircraft and its occupants.
In the SIM, we are able to demonstrate VEMD & FADEC failures, Tail Rotor failure in the hover and inadvertent flight into IMC. Doing training in a simulator teaches the pilot cockpit indicators and aircraft response to a particular failure. The pilot is able to activate the corresponding switches that a specific procedure calls for, instead of pretending to manipulate them, thus improving retention.
Simulator training is avaiableat Airbus Helicopters Inc. in Fort Worth, Texas. Please contact the Training Department at Airbus Helicopters Canada for further information.
