Vancouver, BC November 7th, 2013

Eurocopter Canada promotes the light twin-engine product range and highlights performance of the EC135 with flight demonstrations and dedicated product briefings.

Eurocopter has the most diverse and versatile helicopter range in the world for Civil and Para-public customers; comprised of three light twin-engine helicopter models with proven reliability and performance. They are quickly becoming the aircraft of choice for Canadian operators in one of the most dynamic multi-mission/utility markets in the world.

The EC135 is a light twin engine, multi-mission helicopter easily adaptable to the rigors of the Canadian market. The Category “A” EC135 platform excels in one-engine inoperative (OEI) scenarios. The EC135’s multi-purpose design allows for fast and easy maintenance and optimal reliability and is equipped with the latest technology and JAR-27 safety enhancements. This platform has accumulated 2.6 Million Flight hours and there are currently over 1100 aircraft in operation by 270 customers in 58 countries. The EC135 is a perfect combination of power, safety and maneuverability, offering numerous possibilities for operators in Canada.

Finnair Ltd. based in Naramata, British Columbia recently took delivery of a new EC135 and is supporting hydro missions across the province.

“The helicopter industry is continually evolving and the selection of the EC135 allows us to be ahead of the curve in terms of safety and performance,” said Mr. Wayne Finn, President and Chief Pilot, Finnair Limited “Having the support of a twin-engine aircraft provides increased safety, security and operational assurance for our customers.”

Finnair Limited currently holds a multi-year contract with B.C. Hydro and will support a large geographical area, including the two most active hydro areas in the province; Kamloops and Vernon. Finnair Ltd. has established a close working relationship with B.C. Hydro for the past 8 years.

Other key light twin-helicopters in the Eurocopter family include the AS355 NP and EC145T2.  Popularly known as the Twin Star, the AS355 NP can also be classified as the most affordable twin, combining the successful pedigree of the AS350 range with twin engine reliability.  The NP was first delivered in 2007 and is equipped with a VEMD, FLI, good OEI performance and IFR (Cat A equivalent) certification. The Twinstar offers high commonality with the Astar, which allows for optimized fleet operation costs.

The EC145 T2 is the latest evolution of the very successful EC145/ BK117 family which has accumulated more than 3.5 Million Flight hours and has seen deliveries of almost 900 aircraft worldwide. The EC145 T2 boasts many enhancements such as the new Arriel 2E engines with dual channel FADEC, upgraded Main Gear Box, 4-axis auto pilot, composite tail boom, FENESTRON and the Helionix Avionics Suite. The EC145 T2 will be able to be equipped with Eurocopter optional equipment in order to carry out multiple missions such as onshore Oil and Gas, Utility, EMS, Law Enforcement & Business Aviation markets in Canada.
